Experience Hatha Yoga with your traveling companion, family member or spouse, with individual attention and expert guidance. HiKung Groups
A gorgeous hike in Kauai’s mountain, followed by a Chi Gung practice to cultivate energy and healing with intention, throughout the body and the vital organs, learning to master emotions and mind.

Carrie 'Karu' Hodder LAc earned her masters in both Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine during her four years at the Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine.

Along with her course work she completed a one year apprenticeship with Dr. Kerong Xie, a Doctor of Oriental Medicine who specializes in gynecology.

Practicing under the guidance of Dr. Xie and at the Natural Health Clinic, in Lihue, Karu honed her skills in woman's health. Her expertise includes treatments for:

Emotional, musculoskeletal, and dermatological issues. She is adept at assisting chemotherapy patients and individuals with chronic illnesses improve their quality of life.

Matthew Terrusa L.Ac. CSSAc. specializes in a unique style of acupuncture called Sei Tai Shinpo.

Sei Tai Shinpo is a Japanese style of acupuncture which combines acupuncture and moxibustion to help bring the body back into balance. Sei Tai Shinpo can be translated as “Correct Body alignment acupuncture method”, and is the only form of acupuncture that directly addresses structural misalignments and the musculoskeletal contractions and stressors that are causing our bodies to get out of balance.

Matthew is a graduate of the Traditional Chinese Medical College of Hawaii, and a Certified Sei Tai Shinpo Acupuncturist. Matthew studied under Dr. Chieko Maekawa in a very strict traditional Japanese apprentice training for four years. He is a also a licensed massage therapist with over 10 years experience, certified in both Neuromuscular and Sports massage.

Gathering at the foot of a trailhead, we start the day with a meditative hike. Learning to become one with the ground propelling us forward, to be one with our breath and the pulse of the forest, feeling our bodies aligning from the inside out, and the mind clear with calm and focused intention.
Using yogic and modern dance awareness and methods, breath exercises and the theme of the day (sometimes a specific body part, sometimes a quality of being or a spiritual inspiration), we steadily climb to an open vista to practice a Chi Gung sequence.
Addressing vital organs health, universal archetypal energies, Earth and Heaven vibrational alignment, we seed our day with intention.
The conscious breath and life force flow, merged with the exquisite movement sequence, guide us into a deep state of being.
We will then meditate in silence, before going down the hill, integrating our new way of moving and feeling.

Groups of 4 minimum, 12 maximum.
Building community, learning a new practice, getting strong and fit, both physically and mentally, healing injuries, and preparing a fantastic day, are some of the possible outcomes of these morning offerings.
Level and speed depends on the group.

Tuesdays 9am to 11am and Thursdays 9am and 11am.
